Řeka is a charming, typical mountainous village on the river of the same name, which is hidden in deep valleys shadowed by forest ridges of the surrounding Moravian-Silesian Beskydy. The village was founded in 1644 by separation from Smilovie and Guty and as every mountainous settlement it grew by merging of the already existing scattered mountain glades and farms. An important role in development of the farms was played by Walachian spirit flowing here for several centuries from Walachia, which already makes part of Rumania. At present the village lives by intensive tourism.

Mountain ridges, valleys and slopes offer beautiful views of the surrounding countryside and picturesque natural secluded places are accessible via a series of paths for pedestrians, cycle tracks and horse riding tracks. In winter period the surrounding hills are interwoven by a network of cross-country ski tracks, downhill slopes and ski lifts.
