Horní Bludovice borders directly with Havířov and Horní Těrlicko, Žermanice, Bruzovice and Kaňovice. Horní Bludovice lies in between two waterworks - Žermanická and Těrlická dam. The first preserved mention dates back to 1335, when the village was founded probably by the nobleman Blud of Jičín, from the circles around the first Duke of Těšín Měšek. The village lies in the fragmented and broken terrain on the border of Ostravská plošina and Pobeskydská pahorkatina. One of the highest places is Kohout peak offering a beautiful view of the entire village as well as the nearby surroundings Žermanická dam, beskydy, Havířov and Ostrava. The valley of the village is passed through by Lučina stemming from Prašivá peak in Beskydy and flowing into Ostravice in the centre of Ostrava. The stream of Lučina divides the village in tow parts. Picturesque nature of the countryside is complemented by a series of smaller streams.
